In his three seasons at Cal, he tallied 273 tackles to finish eighth on Cal’s all-time tackle list. An astonishing feat considering he only played in 34 games with 19 starts. During this time, he also added 18.0 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks, four interceptions, six forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.
In 2018, he earned All-America second team honors and All-Pac 12 first team accolades. He was a national semifinalist for Lott IMPACT Trophy, led the conference and ranked third in the nation with 7.3 solo tackles per game and ninth nationally with 11.4 total tackles per game.
JK began his collegiate career at American River College, in Sacramento, where he was forced to redshirt his freshman season after breaking his wrist on his first snap of the year.
The following season he more than made up for it by recording the most tackles of any California junior college player that season, with 118. He also added three sacks, one forced fumble and three pass breakups that season. He was named first-team All-Big 8 Conference, JUCO Freshman All-American, and the CCCAA NorCal Division Defensive Player of the Year.
Following the season he committed to transfer to California for the final three seasons of his NCAA eligibility over offers from Colorado, Iowa State, UNLV and Fresno State.
He attended Roseville High School in Roseville, California, where he was a three-star recruit. View his high school highlights.
